Contractor Application

  • Building Contractors and Tree Trimmers are required to pay a fee of $50.00 a year and supply a Licensing and Surety Bond in the amount of $1,000.00 or Proof of Liability Insurance. In the event the Bond or the Insurance is discontinued the City License becomes invalid.
  • Electrical, Mechanical and Lawn Sprinkler Contractors are required to pay a fee of $50.00 per year and
    supply the City with a copy of their current State License and proof of Liability Insurance as required by
    the State of Texas.
  • Plumbing Contractors are required to furnish the City with a copy of a current State license and proof of
    Liability Insurance as required by the State of Texas.
  • In the event that a State License is revoked or the Liability Insurance is discontinued the City License
    becomes invalid.

All City of Cameron licenses run from January 1 thru December 31 of each year.

Applying for Permits
The Building Permit Application (PDF) should be completed prior to beginning any new construction or renovations. You can also obtain the form in person from City Hall. If you require assistance in completing the form, contact the City Code Enforcement Officer who can provide assistance. Please either email or deliver the form to City Hall.

When all construction and inspections are complete, apply for the Certificate of Occupancy. An application form can be obtained from City Hall at 100 S. Houston Street.
