  • Citation processing and docketing; explaining procedures to
    defendants.
  • Coordinate with judges and attorneys to facilitate smooth courtroom operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of court proceedings, including case filings, dispositions, and judgments.
  • Organize and update case files, ensuring all documentation is complete and accessible for court hearings.

  • Prepare and maintain appropriate calendars; set up court hearings.
  • Respond to requests for discovery from Municipal Judge, City Prosecutor, Police Department and attorneys.
  • Perform a variety of courtroom related tasks and prepare exhibits for presentation in court cases.
  • Experience with Incode Court Software, Microsoft, Windows, Excel, Copsync and third party payment vendors.

    Status: Part-time

    Job Summary
    The Library Aide position is a part time position with the hours worked set by the Library Director at a minimum of 12 hours per week, with a possibility of 20 hours per week as needed for special programs.

    Salary
    The beginning salary for this position will be discussed by the Library Director and applicant during the final interview process. The Library Aide is paid for the number of hours worked (tracked by TimeClock); staff is not paid for holidays or vacations; no insurance is provided.

    Tasks
    Attending Circulation desk, which includes checking in/out and or renewing library materials. Handle collections (money) and calculating amounts due for fines, copies, faxes, etc. and making necessary monetary change accurately. 

    Sort, shelve and file library materials in either alphabetical or numerical order, shift materials, and check collections for errors. Clear and sort returned books, review materials for damage or wear and tear. Conduct periodic checks on all shelved materials and make sure materials are in proper order. Search for library materials which have been reserved or claim to be returned by patrons.

    Create attractive and timely displays using library materials. Keep public areas neat and tidy.

    Providing guidance to the public in locating materials and using library public computers. Assist and give instructions to the public regarding use of library’s website and online catalog, and all educational resources available.

    Maintain current knowledge of organizational procedures, processes, policies, and operations.  Keep member/patron’s information and library business confidential. Failure to do so may result in dismissal.

    Interact pleasantly with adults and children of all ages and maintain a good relationship with the public and City of Cameron employees. Respond to patron and visitor questions and situations in accordance with Library policy and in a manner to enhance the reputation of the library as a public service organization. Represent the library at community events and in community organizations. Maintain a positive working relationship with partner institutions.

    Assist with special projects and programs as assigned, specifically Children’s Summer Reading Program. Perform other reasonable job-related projects as required and additional duties as assigned by Library Director or City Manager.

    Skills

    • Be prompt at work and work the assigned schedule (may vary from time to time). Requests for absence from work must be pre-approved (except in case of emergency) by the Library Director or City Manager.
    • Have a broad base of knowledge of various computer programs, tools, and resources.
    • Be able to work in a Microsoft Windows environment and have good skills in keyboarding and accurate computer data entry as well as navigating the library operating system Biblionix Apollo.
    • View a computer monitor and/or operate a keyboard for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Read printed materials (any type or in cursive)
    • Communicate effectively and correctly (no slang) with individuals in person, over the telephone, and via printed words.
    • Alphabetically and Numerically file books, periodicals, files, reports, notebooks on shelves ranging from six inches to seven feet from the floor (using step ladder if needed).
    • Possess skills in conflict resolution with the public.
    • Be willing and able to follow oral and written instructions and maintain accurate records with attention to detail.
    • Be able to operate a typewriter, calculator, fax machine, copier, and other general office equipment.
    • Be able to work with people of all ages and backgrounds without judgement.
    • Assist librarians with planning and implementing programs as required.
    • Be well groomed and dress appropriately as required for the position.
    • Be able to perform opening and closing procedures without supervision, able to work alone if required, and be self-motivated.
    • Work in an environment subject to continuous interruptions and background noises.
    • Work under stress from deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions.

    Experience
    Graduation from an accredited High School or equivalent education, with some college preferred, and at least one year in public relations experience.

    This position requires that the person hired be literate and aware of past and current authors of all genres. The ideal candidate is one who enjoys reading, can discuss the content of books and is able to recommend books to patrons.

    Requirements
    Provide a current resume listing former employment information with contact information for former supervisors, as well as a cover letter stating the reasons for wanting to work at the library. A completed City of Cameron job application.

    Applicants are required to pass an occupational physical administered by Select Physical as well as a drug screen administered by ThumbsUp Compliance. A background check will be performed, and references contacted (referenced may not be friends or relatives).

    Physical and Environmental Conditions
    Applicants must be able to reach all shelving without assistance (ladder etc.); ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, talk, listen, and lift materials up to 25 pounds daily (sometimes as much as 50 pounds with assistance); close vision, distant vision, ability to distinguish color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.

    Sit or stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, reach, climb a ladder, be able to sit on the floor and get up without assistance. Able to talk and hear; use hands to operate office equipment of all kinds; and to reach with hands and arms.
